How We Find Competitor Mentions
When Mentioned scans for competitor mentions, here is what happens:Search Reddit
We search all of Reddit for each competitor name and any additional keywords you’ve added. This covers the entire platform, not just your tracked subreddits.
Verify Mentions
Each search result is verified to confirm the competitor name actually appears in the post content. This eliminates false positives from Reddit’s search.
Check Comments
We also scan comments on relevant posts, catching mentions that happen in discussions rather than the original post.
Filter Generic Terms
For competitors with common names (like “Funnel” or “Linear”), our AI reviews each mention to filter out generic usage like “marketing funnel” or “linear regression” — only real brand mentions are counted.
Your Brand
You can mark one competitor as your brand. That brand is treated as your reference point in dashboard comparisons and is highlighted differently from other competitors across the product.Using Share of Voice Data

- Track 3-5 direct competitors - Too many makes the signal noisy
- Include product variations - Add common misspellings and abbreviations
- Refresh weekly - Keep data current with regular updates
- Act on gaps - Prioritize posts where competitors are mentioned but you’re not
